I have come to the conclusion that both systems work extremely well. I love my Dell and my macbook. They both do what I need them to do. with the exception that my macbook runs about nine million times faster than my year old dell.

Yeah, I agree with you, the Unibody Pros are worse off in hardware quality than the Non Unibody Pros , however it is just the fact that the Unibody makes the entire laptop surface a giant heatsink, rather than the non Unibody which dissipates heat through the rear end of the keyboard and back ventilation gaps. The overall performance of the all the Pros I have come to own is great , the design and build quality is the best in the world, and airport wireless range really blew me away compared to the intel Wireless Pro 3945 in my Acer laptop. Oh and Airport Extreme inside the Macs are just licensed Broadcom wireless PC cards. I have not gotten the electric shock problem since the ol days of the 17" PowerBook G4s I have

Went to the Apple shop with my girlfriend to look at the new MacBook Pro, the assistant said the new features include SD card slot, backlit keyboard, dual core processor, 320gb hard drive. Apart from the keyboard light, my two year old Toshiba has all these "features". Upgraded to Windows 7 last year (free upgrade provided by Toshiba), no problems, reliable, still beats the MacBook pro specs plus it is touchscreen/tablet (pre-iPad tablet!) with fingerprint scanner for login. I use Avast antivirus, it's free and I've never had a virus. I wouldn't say there is anything wrong with the MacBook, its just dated, lacking in features, overpriced, accessories are overpriced and very limited selection. Apple shop assistants do like to give the impression that their products are made by aliens from the future but that is just in looks (and China isn't in outer space), appearance aside the internals are stone age in technology terms. Apple are not "first adopters" by choice, they wait for the technology to mature before they use it, they claim it takes time to build quality. It's a good argument but in my view the top-end manufacturers like Toshiba and Sony have quality to match and newer features plus there is so much free stuff on the internet for windows it makes the Apple Store look like a vegetable stand. Again, that doesn't make the MacBook a bad computer, doesn't impact the reliability, it just means they can't compete the best of the windows machines.
