RAZR 2 Cellphone by Motorola

Posted in Cellphone, iPhone by Elliott Back on May 15th, 2007.

The Razr 2 was just announced by Motorola, early enough to perhaps head off the iPhone. It’s quite pretty:

Aside from the weird back panel with a new enhanced dual screen, it looks mostly the same. It’s slightly thinner, and slightly longer than already too long RAZR, and for that reason alone I wouldn’t want to get it:

Interestingly, they’re making three models for three different networks, V9 (3G HSDPA), V9m (EVDO CDMA) and V8 (GSM). They now have 2″ and 2.2″ screens with twice the resolution of the original RAZR, Linux/Java support, USB 2.0, 2GB of memory, a full HTML browser, and 2 MP camera. Those are hot specs. Hotter than the iPhone’s.

The batteries are awful on almost all the RAZR brands. You would think that getting a flip phone vs a full blown pda would give you a significantly longer battery life but this isnt the case. With this phone you definitely need a car charger. I got mine for less than $10 for me and my wife.

Yes, the same thing happened to my phone and we bought 3 of them at the same time about 1-1/2 year ago. Two has failed because of the batteries, their junk. I to had to send my phone off and they sent me another one but no battery. It did the same thing. I would be talking on what I thought was a completely charged battery and then the screen would go black and sometimes just blink the Motorola sign. They have discontinued this model but you can find the batteries where I did for about 8.00 a piece at cellphoneshop.net. hope this helps. I went along time before I got this info.

I know for a fact that the keys physically cant touch the screen on my razr2 v8 when the phones closed.

I know this because i have the phone in front of me and i can see enitrely through the gap when its closed.

What wrong with all the darn phones is the buttons rub on the screen and 2 months later you cant see anything. 450 bucks and you think they could fix something so simple I spent 1200 bucks on phones. the cases where out in a few months and you cant see past the plastic

  7. The size is an advantage for a cellphone, and the fact that it seems to be a possible open platform. It also has support for 3G, and will probably be priced less than $300.

just curious, what exactly is “hotter” than iphone’s specs? 2.2″ screen (vs 3.5″) or 2gb memory (vs. 4gb), or the uncertainity in motorola’s copywriting (“Some versions of RAZR2 will run Linux/Java”)? hmm.
